William J. "Trae" McCarthy IV

William J. “Trae” McCarthy IV has been a business developer and real estate executive for almost 20 years. In 2004, he started with Bollin Ligon Walker, a real estate consulting firm, where he worked for five years while also working for a private developer, focusing on large-scale farming and restaurants. One of the restaurants McCarthy developed received exposure on the popular food reality television show Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.
During this five-year period, McCarthy also developed two other restaurants and their concepts in Columbia, S.C. – Pawley Front Porch, which won Best Burger and Food Truck in Colombia, and Doc’s Barbeque. He and his wife then moved to Chapel Hill, N.C., where he worked for Sunbelt, a brokerage firm. In 2010 he moved to Durham, N.C., and started working for Pickett & Sprouse, a commercial real estate firm. After five years he moved to Charleston, S.C., where he worked with The Boulevard Company.
McCarthy is an active philanthropist, supporting local events that promote ALS awareness. He recently completed three years of service on the board for the First Scots Preschool at First Scots Presbyterian Church.
McCarthy and his wife reside in Charleston and have two children.
