Susan Marlowe

Susan Marlowe is currently a member of the Patriots Point Development Authority Board of Directors, She represents PPDA and the state’s interests as a member of the MOHLEC Board. Since 2007 she has served PPDA as the appointee of the President Pro Tem of the SC Senate.

Susan is a retired educator of 28 years in the Charleston County School District and is a portrait artist with more than 300 commissions completed since 1985. She was an adjunct professor at the College of Charleston for teacher training and is a certified instructor in the Congressional Medal of Honor Society’s Character Development Program (CDP).

Prior to Susan’s legislative appointment to Patriots Point, she was appointed to the SC Education Oversight Committee, an arm of the legislature that oversees public school accountability and K-12 funding. She has served as a board member of the S.C. Governor’s School of the Arts in Greenville, S.C.

Additionally, Marlowe serves on the Patriot Point Foundation’s Chapel Planning Committee; a fundraising project to construct a Veterans Chapel on Patriots Point.

Susan is an Honorary Member of the South Carolina Special Forces Association, the North Carolina Special Forces Association Chapter 57 (Montagnards), and is an Honorary Life Member of the Celebrate Freedoms Foundation in Columbia, S.C. She has served on the Board of the National Special Forces Charitable Trust. Susan has been president of the Patriot Art Foundation 501C which funds art therapy programs for veterans and is instructed by internationally acclaimed watercolorist Mary Whyte.

Susan is an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and The Society of Colonial Dames of America in The State of South Carolina.

The Mount Pleasant resident earned her B.A. Fine Arts and M.Ed from the College of Charleston. She and her husband Bobby Marlowe are the parents of one son and grandparents of three. The Marlowes are members of St. Andrews Church in Mount Pleasant.
