W. Thomas McQueeney

Thomas McQueeney is an insurance agent for State Farm Insurance Cos.and an active member in his community. He serves on The Citadel Athletic Hall of Fame Board of Directors, The Citadel Foundation as Class of 1974 Chairman, the MOH Recipient Ralph H. Johnson Scholarship Board, and BEHS Special Projects Board of Charleston Community Foundation as secretary-treasurer.
Previously, McQueeney served as both a member and a director on a wide range of boards, including Our Lady of Mercy Outreach, The Citadel Board of Visitors, Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital, The Citadel Foundation, Charleston Metro Sports Council, Patriot’s Point Museum Maritime Foundation, The Straydog Society, Hibernian Foundation, The Citadel Memorial Fund of the Brigadier Club, Inc., MUSC Children’s Hospital Foundation, President’s Resource Council of The Citadel, Coastal Council of Explorer Scouts, Triple B Club of Bishop England High School, and Charleston Chapter of American Heart Association.
McQueeeny is a donor to multiple charities including The Citadel Foundation, Ronald McDonald House, Roper – St. Francis Foundation, Thornwell Home for Children, Our Lady of Mercy Outreach Building Fund, Coastal Community Foundation, and more. He founded and is the chairman of Santa’s Kind Intentions, Inc., which delivers gifts to 7,000-plus needy children. He is also a featured columnist in The Lowcountry Senior Sun Magazine, an accomplished artist, and an author of seventeen books. He has received multiple awards including the Order of the Palmetto Award, Distinguished Service Award, T. Ashton Phillips Community Service Award, City of Charleston Proclamation of Meritorious Achievement, Knights of Columbus Knight of the Year, and been inducted into The Citadel Athletic Hall of Fame.
McQueeney holds a bachelor’s degree in English from The Citadel. He and his wife, Amanda, have four children and five grandchildren.
